Color Schemes
My blog post "How to Analyze and Recreate a Character-Based Outfit" needs a makeover...So i'm going to sketch header images that preview the concepts for each section.
This part focuses on both the importance and the variety of choices of color schemes and the various ways they can pronounce story and personality.
I'll bet you can fairly easily guess which movies these are all from!

Symbolic Pieces
My blog post "How to Analyze and Recreate a Character-Based Outfit" needs a makeover...So i'm going to sketch header images that preview the concepts for each section.
This part focuses on how to use symbolism to better convey the character you're portraying.
Can you guess which characters these symbols belong to?

Pencil sketched, then digitally colored--not sure if there was a better category to put it in.

Ariel - Shape, Form, Silhouette Colored
Excited to publish a blog post about how to dress like Ariel over at StoryBehindTheCloth.com within the next couple of days! It's taken so much longer than i expected it to--from all the details, to the artsy side of it, to website glitches--But i think i'm pleased with how it will turn out!

Spent today and yesterday sketching this--elements of the shapes and forms of her costumes, each with a few examples of similar styles.
Has been digitally colored to show which silhouettes are from the movie.

I believe fashion is a form of storytelling...

Delving into that idea is the core purpose in starting the blog, Story Behind the Cloth.

Many linguists see fashion as a form of non-verbal
communication. What you wear tells people who you are and what you love–It tells a story. It’s personal and you bring it with you wherever you go.

What if we could make our clothes declare, with even greater strength, the truth of who we are? What if our outfits could be a catalyst for conversations about the things we’re passionate about?
The plan is to explore the depths of these ideas with you.
